The Rwanda Basic Education Board (REB) has published a Handbook of Practical Activities and Laboratory Experiments in Mathematics, in which one of the exercises mentions the two-stage mechanical oscillator and its applications. This is the first time that Milković's invention is mentioned in the educational materials of an African country.
<Milković's two-stage mechanical oscillator has been a current topic in the world for decades, which does not subside, both among enthusiasts and in scientific and professional circles. This is not the first time that the oscillator has been mentioned or recommended as part of the education system of a country, but it is the first time that it has been officially mentioned in the education system of an African country.
The Rwanda Basic Education Board (REB) is a government institution established in 2020 by the Ministry of Education with the aim of promoting the quality of education in primary, specialized and adult schools and with the intention of making all its educational programs available to all residents of this African country. Among the basic responsibilities of this institution are the preparation and distribution of tests, educational materials, guides for lecturers, determination of methodologies and establishment of teaching methods for primary, secondary, specialized schools and institutions for adult education. The institution has also established an eLearning program program with an online material base for students and course participants.
Among the available materials is a User Guide for practical activities and laboratory experiments in mathematics. In this user guide, special attention is paid to practical activities that facilitate the learning process in which students can manipulate concrete materials, develop ideas and make new discoveries during activities carried out individually or in pairs/small groups. In a competency-based curriculum, hands-on activities open students' minds and provide opportunities to interact with the world, use available tools, collect data, and effectively model real-life problems.
Within this manual, during the setting of one of the mathematical tasks, a two-stage mechanical oscillator was also mentioned, as well as the great potential of its application
in fields such as electricity production, water pumping, irrigation, water purification, geothermal pumps, oil pumps and the like, which hints at the creation of physical models based on mathematical calculations.
