GREAT TRIUMPH OF SERBIAN SCIENCE – Veljko Milkovic Awarded the Grand Prix in Singapore

A TRIPLE TRIUMPH FOR A SERBIAN INVENTOR: Veljko Milković Wins Grand Prize at Innovation Week Awards IWA 2026
June 8, 2026

The Grand Prix Award of the major international innovation competition ‘Innovation Week Awards IWA 2026’ was presented to Veljko Milkovic in Singapore for his revolutionary invention of the two‑stage mechanical oscillator.

SINGAPORE – On Thursday, August 27, 2026, a ceremonial award presentation for the world’s best inventions was held in Singapore as part of the major international competition of inventions and innovations ‘Innovation Week Awards’ (IWA 2026). In search of creative solutions that can positively change the world, this contest of ideas brought together hundreds of inventors, researchers, startup companies, universities, and innovative organizations from all continents, in an extraordinary international celebration of creativity, innovation, and positive impact. The ‘Innovation Week Awards’ (IWA) is a leading international competition program for innovators organized by OFEED (https://ofeed.tv), an independent international organization based in Morocco and the USA, with co‑organizer ‘Innovation Design & Entrepreneurship Association’ (IDEA) from Singapore (https://sgidea.org), the organizer of the international exhibition of new technologies and inventions ‘WorldInvent Singapore’ (WoSG) (https://worldinvent.com).

The award ceremony was held at the ‘Wyndham Singapore’ hotel, in the very center of this island city‑state in Southeast Asia, the main financial hub of that part of the world, renowned for its futuristic architecture and cultural diversity. At the formal ceremony, attended by the diplomatic corps and representatives of embassies, the official presentation of awards took place, accompanied by a showcase of the winning ideas. The program, led by TAN Wei Kok, President of IDEA, included the presentation of the awarded innovative teams, panel discussions on current topics in the field of new technologies, and an exhibition of the best innovations from this year’s competition ‘WorldInvent Singapore’ (WoSG) (https://worldinvent.com/day-2-agenda). Awards were presented for outstanding ideas offering solutions for our sustainable future, and our country had a laureate who received the highest distinction at this unique world championship of inventiveness.

“This year’s recipient of the highest distinction at IWA 2026 is our renowned researcher and innovator from Novi Sad, Veljko Milković, whose revolutionary invention, the ‘two‑stage mechanical oscillator,’ was declared the absolute winner of this prestigious international competition, earning the Grand Prize Winner title in strong competition with the best, mostly comprised of university teams and research companies from around the world.

The President of OFEED, Majid El Bouazzaoui from Morocco, introduced this year’s absolute winner of the IWA competition and formally presented the Grand Prix trophy and the gold medal awarded to Veljko Milković. As was noted during the award ceremony, Milković received the gold medal for the invention of this mechanical oscillator, as the jury evaluated this innovation as the best based on the criteria of originality, usefulness, feasibility, impact, and creative potential. Among the hundreds of submitted ideas striving to shape a bright future for all of us, Milković’s two‑stage oscillator, as a mechanical amplifier of clean energy, stood out as a technology capable of addressing the challenges of the energy crisis and climate change. This simple mechanism, first patented in 1999, combines a driving pendulum with a lever, whose mutual interaction produces new mechanical effects and multiplies the input energy suitable for performing useful work (mechanical hammer, press, pump, electric generator…). https://www.pendulum-lever.com

This award represents yet another significant recognition in the rich career of Veljko Milković, renowned for his revolutionary solutions in the fields of mechanics, energy, and ecology, some of which have been in use for decades. He is one of our most successful and most famous fellow citizens, whose inventions are being researched on all continents. His innovations in the field of oscillatory technologies have attracted great interest from the professional public, scientific institutions, and technology centers worldwide. Scientists and engineers from all continents study and develop his pendulum‑based oscillatory system, and on its basis, more than a hundred independent scientific publications have been published and a large number of diploma, master’s, and doctoral theses defended at universities across the globe.

– “Considering that I pursue this missionarily, I am very grateful to the organizers and the jury for selecting me to receive the first prize for the best technical achievement in such strong international competition. It has come true what some had predicted — that this technology would be awarded the first prize at a major world competition,” stated Veljko Milković, author of 120 inventions and around 30 approved patents, and one of the most cited independent researchers from this region. “I am grateful to all those who, over the past decades, supported this invention with their authority, whether through their published scientific papers and doctoral theses or through public appearances, where they confirmed that for this technical discovery there is, after all, a chance in the seemingly impossible mission of recognition,” emphasized our inventor, who last year marked the first 70 years of creative work, which have produced numerous inventions that found application from America to Asia.

The ‘IWA 2026’ edition took place from June 1 to June 7, 2026, under the slogan ‘One World. Thousands of Ideas. Endless Possibilities.’ and was of particular importance to the organizer, as OFEED marked ten years of work dedicated to the global innovation community. OFEED is a global innovation center founded in 2016, with the mission of connecting innovators from around the world through events, platforms, and opportunities that turn ideas into real impact. To date, OFEED has organized more than 90 international events to support and promote creative endeavors, and the IWA innovation competition is their most prestigious program, established in 2019 as an international platform dedicated to recognizing inventiveness, creativity, and the courage to design solutions that shape a better future.
